The authors deal with the complex pharmacological control of sympathetic activation in high risk patients in the risk for the perioperative myocardialischemia. As the part of the perioperative myocardial protection the authors present ultrafast short-acting beta blocker esmolol (Brevibloc ). Itsapplication, as the part of the complex myocardial protection, decreases incidence of the perioperative myocardial ischemia in patients with theabdominal aortic surgery.
Office-based Anaesthesia for Dentistry in the Disabled: Rotterdam ApproachArticles
J. Rupeht, E. C. M. Bouvy-Berends
Anest. intenziv. Med. 2002;13(3):103-105
Dentistry for profoundly disabled patients has been hampered in the Netherlands by the chronic shortage of available anaesthetic care within thefew hospitals which provide it. In the Rotterdam region, two fully equipped office-based dental anaesthesia centres have been established. Profoundlyhandicapped patients are assessed preoperatively by four experienced and dedicated anaesthetists. The anaesthetic assistants are also always the samein order to accumulate experience. Dentists and their assistants are taught essentials of co-operation with the anaesthetist in a special course aboutanaesthesia for dentists. It has been shown that dental care performed...
Patient with Haematologic Malignity and Sepsis with Multiorgan FailureArticles

Anest. intenziv. Med. 2002;13(3):106-110
Sepsis with multiorgan failure in patients with haematologic malignity is associated with high mortality. It is caused by the specific basic diseaseand marked decrease in the function of the immune system induced by the aggressive therapy. The authors try to describe principal problems andtherapeutic possibilities.

Chemotherapy with subsequent autologous haematopoietic cells transfer is efficient therapeutic modality for some types of malignant blood disorders.Chemotherapy requires double-lumen central venous dialysis catheter which has to be inserted in critically ill patients with pancytopenia, anemia andsevere blood coagulation disorder. The case report shows the haemothorax made by inserted dialysis catheter in patient with PNET kidney. It wascaused by repeated punction of the subclavian vein wall and the severe coagulation disorder. The resuscitation of circulation followed and lasted severalhours including massive volume and inotropic therapy. It was followed...
Prognostic Value of Some Characteristic Sings in Patients with Haematologic Malignity in Intensive CareArticles
M. Kolár, M. Balík, M. Marková, E. Zikešová
Anest. intenziv. Med. 2002;13(3):115-118
The aim of study was evaluation of the prognostic factors in critically ill patients with haematologic malignity. 39 patients were enrolled in the study.Detailed evaluation is made from data of 24 patients without bone marrow transplantation. The bone marrow transplanted patients were subject ofanother study. All the patients came from the Department of Haematology of University Hospital Královské Vinohrady and the Institue of Haematology and Blood Transfusion. The patients were admitted to the intensive care unit in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care of University Hospital Královské Vihohrady between January 1999 and December 2000....
The Complications of Allogenic Haematopoietic Cells Transplantation which Requited Intensive CareArticles
M. Marková, P. Cetkovský
Anest. intenziv. Med. 2002;13(3):119-120
The aim allogenic haematopoietic cells transplantation from bone marrow as well as peripheral blood is to destroy residual disease. This therapeuticmodality is associated with high mortality. The complications include endothelial damage syndrome, graft versus host reaction and infectiouscomplications. The authors describe all the complications in detail.

Anest. intenziv. Med. 2002;13(3):121-123
This study followed another trial which had the relation to the patients without bone marrow transplantation who were admitted to the intensivecare unit due to critical complications. The patients in this study came from the same departments as in the previous study - the Department ofHaematology of University Hospital Královské Vinohrady and the Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion. The patients were admitted to theintensive care unit in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care of University Hospital Královské Vinohrady between January 1999 andDecember 2000. 15 patients were enrolled in the study (6 patients after autotransplantation...

In clinical practice, it is necessary to reduce the daily dose of insulin added to all-in-one system in comparison with the daily dose administered bya linear dosing device (perfusor) in physiological solution. The aim of the study is to asses the influence of the base solution on biological insulinavailability expressed in the value of total insulin using the RIA method, and to monitor the influence of the base solution on total insulin concentrationin time. Methods: 15 measurements of total insulin concentration in physiological solution applied by a linear dosing device (8j Actrapid HM + 20 mlphysiological solution) were carried out in time intervals...
Bronchoalveolar Lavage as a Therapeutic Way for Alveolar ProteinosisArticles

Complaint has common clinical features than other pulmonary affection. The sole crediblediagnostic method is lung biopsy and sample histologic adjusting. The bronchoalveolar lavage is only efficient therapeutic way today.
