V posledních deseti letech prodělává dětská anestezie v naší zemi význačné změny, na nichž se zásadním způsobem podílejí dva faktory. Prvním z nich je neustálý rozvoj anesteziologických technik, který vychází ze stále širší nabídky moderních přístrojů a nových farmak a ze snadnější dostupnosti odborných informací. Druhým faktorem, který ovlivňuje současnou podobu dětské anestezie, je populační vývoj.
