Anesteziologie a intenzivní medicína is a journal of the Czech Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine and the Czech Society of Intensive Care Medicine. It is published by the Czech Medical Association of J. E. Purkyně. The journal has been in publication since 1990. Until 2002, the journal was published under the name Anaesthesiology and Emergency Medicine, and since 2003, it has been issued under the current name Anesteziologie a intenzivní medicína. From 2023 it is published only in electronic form.

Contributions from anaesthesiology, intensive care medicine, algeziology, emergency medicine and resuscitation in Czech, Slovak and English are accepted for publication. The journal informs about new findings in related fields and the history of medicine. For interventional studies, ethics committee approval is required before they can begin. Published articles must comply with ethical requirements (see guidelines for authors).
The review procedure also applies to manuscripts authored by members of the editorial board.
Papers published in peer-reviewed sections are double-reviewed. The review process is conducted electronically and is blinded for authors and reviewers. Submissions to non-peer-reviewed sections are subject to approval by the Editorial Board. The final decision on publication rests with the Managing Editor.
The journal brings current recommendations and guidelines of professional societies (ČSARIM, ČSIM) and other information with a focus on education, information from congresses and professional conferences.
The contents of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine or any part thereof may not be used, distributed or published without the written permission of the editors.
The full content of the articles is locked and is only accessible to subscribers after logging into the editorial system. Articles are unlocked for all readers one year after publication in an issue of the journal.
