Autoři představují komentovanou část učebnice chirurgie z roku 1921, její první vydání jako učební text je z roku 1917. Úvodní část této historické publikace se věnuje anesteziologii a překvapuje svým rozsahem.
Předkládaný text je vzhledem ke svému rozsahu rozdělen do pěti částí (Úvod, Místní anestezie, Intravenózní regionální anestezie a neuroaxiální blokády, Celková anestezie I a Celková anestezie II). Každá z jednotlivých částí je doprovázena naším komentářem, který uvádí původní text do historického kontextu s tehdejším vývojem oboru anesteziologie a popisuje okolnosti vzniku jednotlivých postupů. Učebnice je poplatná německé a vídeňské škole.

Anaesthesia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire during World War I and in the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic. Part IV - General anaesthesia
The authors present an annotated part of a surgical textbook from 1921. The first edition was published in 1917 during WWI. The first part of the textbook concerns anaesthesiology and the text is divided into 5 parts because of the extent (Introduction, Local Anaesthesia, Intravenous Regional Anaesthesia and Neuraxial Blockades, General Anaesthesia I and General Anaesthesia II). Each part has been annotated in order to provide historical context of the anaesthetic methods and their origin. The textbook follows the German and Vienna schools of medicine.
